Kids were given complete creative control over building a village of their own at The Planting Festival in 2017. We had professional carpenters, as well as sewers and electronics teachers to train them in the skills they needed to build a town out of pallets, recycled timber, fabric, and Arduino kits. They used power tools, saws, drills, paint, sewing machines, hammers, and tonnes of imagination. They named the village themselves, calling it “Kidfordia”. On the last night of the festival they performed an open mic night on a stage they had built.
